Physics/Dynamics
of Auto Racing (Grades, 9 - Adult) - The purpose of
racing is to win. There are several factors that put you in
a position to win. Some say it’s luck. Success ultimately
comes from the science behind these factors. Science and
the application of its principals is the magic, that simple
and that complex. Join us and learn why some are successful
and others fail. Learn the basics of chassis engineering,
engine development, and set-up
practices.
Body
Sculpt & Toning (Adult) - Do you want to
lose inches? How about tone up those "soft" spots. Do you
want to learn how to get in shape by using easy to find low
cost equipment you might already have in your basement or
garage? Have you ever been on vacation and walked by the
hotel workout room and want to go in but were too afraid to
open the door because you did not know how to use the
machines or free weights? If you answered yes to any of
these questions join me for a class that will teach you how
to use the machines and free weights. Plus I will show easy
to do exercises you can do at home and on the road. This
class is designed for all levels of fitness. We will meet
at Karcher Middle School for a one hour toning and
sculpting class. This class will get your muscles toned and
your heart rate up. One class of this session will be spent
at Burlington High School where you will learn how to use a
treadmill, elliptical, and stepper along with free weights
and other common weight room equipment. You will feel
comfortable entering any workout facility with confidence.
Please wear comfortable "workout" clothing and athletic
shoes. Remember to bring a towel and
water.
Healthy
Habits Challenge - Made Easy! (Adult) - Have you ever
made a New Year's resolution about your health but then got
overwhelmed and gave up? This series of classes will help
you successfully develop healthy habits one easy step at a
time. During each course you'll learn about one key element
of a healthy lifestyle-what you drink, followed by what you
eat, and ending with what you do for physical fitness.
After the teaching portion of each course, you'll take a
self-assessment quiz. Instructors will help you set one
realistic goal and will provide tips for success. Logs are
provided to journal progress. No weigh-ins-the goal is
simply to make these healthy changes a part of your life.
The fourth session reviews all the healthy habits,
celebrates individual accomplishments, and includes
refreshments. Sign up on your own or better yet with family
members or friends. You'll be encouraged by shared success!
Your healthier hydration, nutrition, and fitness habits
will be a part of your life, and you'll be ready to enjoy
summer!
